It's snake season in the bay area. Keep that in mind if you wander off trail into tall grass. Snakes are more active in warm weather, and may be spotted sunning themselves out in the open. If you encounter a rattlesnake, don't make any sudden moves. They usually only strike in self defense when threatened. Back away slowly and allow the snake to move when its ready.
