Stooges Gear Stolen in Canada!

Iggy Pop and the Stooges had their gear stolen yesterday outside an Embassy Suites hotel in Montreal after playing the Osheaga Festival Musique Et Arts in Canada, as part of their European / Canada / American summer tour. This was their first appearance in Canada in over 30 years!! They had all of their gear in a yellow Penske truck including Legendary Mike Watt's Gibson Bass, the one he has been playing since his early 1980's Minutemen days. Interesting side note, according to Watt's website (linked under Moss' Mega Links Listeroo - see lower right), this same bass has been stolen before (and obviously recovered). Other items stolen includes tens of thousands of dollars worth of guitars, drums, amps, etc. It makes you wonder if this is organized crime. Bands frequently have trailers stolen when touring, and the instruments never seem to surface. Best of wishes on recovering the loot!! One of the top ten bands I have seen in the last ten years or so. I saw them on Jimmy Kimmel for free last summer, where I also sat about two rows away from Iggy during the interview segment. Very cool...."call me Jim, Iggy."
