Anchor Steam We Salute You!

Anchor Steam Brewing Company, one of the oldest microbrew companies in the US started in 1854, during the height of the Goldrush, even though bottle cap says "Made in SF Since 1896" the year the Ernest Baruth and Otto Schinkel bought the company. Although it was not made of steam, a steam beer was the nickname for the plentiful west coast brewing co.'s brewed with primitive conditions and without ice. Anchor is the last one to use steam in their name, which they have since trademarked. I have been know to embibe a few of these steam beers during my day. With that being said, Anchor steam....we salute you as SF business of the year.
