The band Furthur has been on tour, recently hitting both SF and Portland. The band, featuring a couple of unkown guys named Phil Lesh (who just turned 70!) and Bobby Weir, played in a little band called the Grateful Dead. This new incarnation of the long, strange trip, doesn't feature the rythmn devils (Billy and Mickey), but does play out of the GD songbook. According to one of the Ken Babbs sons (Eli) the rythmn section was "boring, no improv, not very good with dynamics" and the percussionist was "un heard (sic), just a dud".
