It turns out a security guard, named Daryl Washington, thought he could get away with stealing Tom Petty's and his band's guitars without anyone noticing.
He was partially right, until that is he pawned one for a measly $250. The heist went down last Thursday at the Culver City Sound Stages, where Washington worked.
According to SF Gate, among the five stolen guitars was Petty's famous 1967 12-string maple Rickenbacker and guitarist Mike Campbell's blue Dusenberg.
Collectively the guitars were worth around $100,000. Good thing they caught the guy!
